Advancing Outcomes for Children with Autism through Educator Training

This brief presents the early outcomes of IAC’s specialist teacher training under Project Sinar, which aims to improve the education of children with autism. It shows how training can improve classroom experiences and how Project Sinar can be built upon to address similar needs for teachers and children across Malaysia.

Project Sinar has so far trained 438 special schools’ teachers across five states and one federal territory, equipping them with the knowledge and practical skills to support children with autism. It is a vitally beneficial investment in consolidating, sharing and systematising hands-on learnings from IAC’s experience teaching children with autism.

The results to date have been overwhelmingly positive, with system stakeholders suggesting many opportunities to extend the programme and its footprint. There is an opportunity for IAC and IDEAS to partner further in efforts to understand and implement ways to uplift education for children with autism.
